What is depth psychotherapy?
One of the maps I use in our work together is that of depth psychotherapy, which looks beneath symptoms to the deeper patterns, emotions and meanings that shape your life. Drawing on traditions such as Jungian psychology, it pays attention to dreams, symbols, the unconscious and your inner life, not just surface behavior.
What is alignment work?
Alignment work addresses your personal purpose and what you are called here to do in this life. It is always connected with your natural gifts and affinities, so we start there. Often, this is also connected to a sense of spirituality, either directly or adjacently. We work with both inner listening skills, (what you are being called towards) and your vision (your desire and deepest wishes). In that balance if leading and listening, there is a path that your essential self is designed for.
How is this different from traditional talk therapy?
Each session is different, and I work differently with each client based on what works best for you at any given moment. I have many forms of training that vary across the board, which allows me to meet clients where it is most helpful. I work with the body, dreams, imagery, nature and ritual when they’re helpful. Sometimes, many sessions are spent simply talking. Others may include guided imagery, body based practices, or guided meditation for building a deeper inner anchor to weather life’s storms, and stay connected to your deepest places of wisdom.
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy includes the body in the therapeutic process: sensation, breath and the nervous system. It can incorporate movement when needed. Many people find it helps with anxiety and trauma that talking alone hasn’t shifted.
Can somatic therapy happen online?
Yes. Online sessions work well for this kind of therapy, and many clients find it easier to settle and turn inward from their own space. I see adults located in California by secure video.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible partial reimbursement. Check with your plan about out-of-network mental health benefits before we begin. See rates and details.
How long is a session, and how often do we meet?
Sessions are 50 minutes. I also offer 1.5 hour session length, two hour sessions and extended day long practice days. Most people begin weekly; we’ll adjust the rhythm together as the work unfolds.
