Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on therapeutic energy work that subtly influences the body and particularly the nervous system, brain, and the cerebral spinal fluid that moves within the body. Craniosacral Therapy invites your entire system into a state of deep stillness, where core emotional and physical patterns can emerge, be resolved and then healed. This work brings the nervous system back into balance, and allows the body, mind and spirit to return to its natural calm and resourced state of inner health. While this work can be very relaxing and rejuvenating, it can also assist in healing deeply ingrained emotional issues, trauma and chronic physical pain. This work is great for those of us who lead busy lives, feel stressed-out and need rest and rejuvenation, or wish to engage in profound ongoing personal healing work through body-oriented work, or both!
My craniosacral therapy practice is where all of my skills and affinities of the healing arts converge. I integrate my skills as a psychotherapist, mindfulness practitioner, herbalist, and energetic healer into the work, making each session unique for every client’s needs.
I offer craniosacral therapy sessions from my home in North Berkeley.
What it involves:
Clients lie down on a massage table with comfortable clothes on. I work with the whole body, usually beginning with holding the heels of your feet, then working on various contacts, using my hands or fingertips on the body depending on what is needed. Often contacts are oriented to the spine and cranium. Sessions are quiet and slow, and are centered around cultivating a feeling of safety, comfort and support. Often new insights, unresolved emotions or just a very deep state of relaxation will occur, depending on what the system is needing in order to come to a more balanced place. At times, I might use guided imagery, mindfulness practices or talk to loosen ingrained negative influences that are help in the body and mind. There is time before and after the session to discuss your needs and experiences of the work.
In 2017, I completed the in-depth 2.5 year-long certification course for Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral therapy through the Star Institute. Gary Peterson is my teacher, and has been a practitioner for over 30 years.
